9/11/2013 11:43:00 PM Tickets on sale for Plaza fundraiser
Plans are underway for this year's Friends of the Plaza Dinner fundraising event, set for Saturday evening, Oct. 12. at 6:30 p.m. in the Perkins-Tryon Junior High Gymnasium. Tickets are $30 per person and are available at Sasser & Company Antiques, Perkins Tag Agency, Perkins City Hall or by calling 547-5298. There are also a limited number of corporate tables available.
Those purchasing tickets will also receive the 2013 limited edition Christmas ornament featuring the Vassar Barn. This is the fifth ornament in the series limited to only 250 pieces.
The annual event is the primary fundraiser held to support the Oklahoma Territorial Plaza, a 6 acre park on North Main Street that features the restored home of Frank "Pistol Pete" Eaton, a playground, and the ever-popular splash pad used by scores of children each summer.
Besides a great meal, the Friends of the Plaza Dinner features an evening of entertainment and camaraderie with friends and a chance to help support the plaza by purchasing items at a live auction. Items will also be offered at a silent auction during the event. Entertainment includes a Hee Haw skit written by Kristy Willingham and Kari Rains.
"We are looking for donations big and small for the auction," said David Sasser, a member of the auction committee.
Organizers are hoping to raise $25,000 from this years event.
All donations are needed by the last day of September and are tax-deductible.
Drop off your item at Perkins Tag Agency at 222 N. Main or call Sasser at (405) 547-2416 to arrange for a pick up.
