10/31/2013 7:19:00 AM Perkins celebrates Halloween Thursday evening
The City of Perkins officially celebrates Halloween this evening and there are plenty of opportunities for trick-or-treaters to enjoy the evening.
The 28th Annual Monster Mash will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Perkins Elementary School Gym. The Monster Mash was started by the Perkins Community Chamber of Commerce in 1986 as a safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or treating for children on Halloween. This free event provides a safe, controlled environment for children through the sixth grade. Sponsored by local businesses and organizations, there will be lots of candy, games, and even a costume contest.
The costume contest begins at 7 p.m. and there are five divisions. Division 1 is birth thru Kindergarten, Division 2 is 1st thru 3rd grade, and Division 3 is 4th thru 6th grade. Prizes are: 1st prize - $10, 2nd prize - $5, and 3rd prize - $2 for these divisions and are sponsored by Payne County Bank. Division 4 is 7th thru 12th grade (Siblings & helpers) and Division 5 is Adult (Parents & helpers). There is a 1st prize of $25 in each of these divisions sponsored by Stroud National Bank. Event Sponsors are Payne County Bank, Stroud National Bank, Perkins Tag Agency, The Perkins Journal, Texas Road House, Perkins Community Foundation, Perkins-Tryon FCCLA, and the Perkins Community Chamber of Commerce.
The Perkins Church of Christ's Fall Festival celebration is tonight from 6- 8 p.m. at 1200 N. Lovers Lane. There will be hot dogs and games to enjoy and prizes to win. The Perkins community is invited to stop by and enjoy.
EduCare will hold their annual Trunk or Treat and carnival this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Perkins First United Methodist Church. Bring your children and join the fun!
