Local Librarian Selected For Statewide Committee

Thomas-Wilhite Library Youth Services Librarian Lisa Doyle is gearing up to read and review 175 books which are being considered for the Sequoyah Book Award. The Sequoyah Book Award is a statewide award that honors the Native American leader Sequoyah, for his unique achievement in creating the Cherokee syllabary. Doyle was selected by the Oklahoma Library Association to serve on the Children's Sequoyah Committee and Friends of the Library hosted a reception May 8 to celebrate that honor. Doyle is currently planning an extensive Summer Reading Program for local children of all ages. For more information about library programs and services visit www.cityofperkins.net/library. P
