The Perkins-Tryon High School Jazz Band along with the Stillwater Jazz will be presenting a joint "Dessert Concert" on Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in the P-T High School commons area. Desserts and beverages will be provided during the concert so that all who attend may sit back and enjoy a relaxing evening fi lled with great music.
The P-T High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Pam Cartmell, will be featured during the fi rst half of the concert. There will be a wide variety of styles of music, including music by Freddie Mercury, George Gershwin, Woody Herman, Herbie Hancock, and others.
The Stillwater Jazz, under the direction of Kent Taylor, is a group made up of adult musicians from Stillwater, Perkins, and surrounding areas. The age of this group ranges from 18-82 and has over 1,000 years of playing experience. This group meets weekly throughout the school year and performs at various community functions in addition to giving concerts. They will be performing music by George Gershwin, Marvin Hamlisch, Chicago, Bill Withers, Michael Buble, and others.
There is no admission fee for the event, however donations will be accepted at the door. All money raised will go directly to the P-T band program.
