Perkins City-wide Clean-up is this Saturday

Perkins annual City-Wide Clean-Up Day is set for this Saturday, May 4.

Perkins residents are invited to get their property cleaned up and take advantage of special curbside pick-up and large dumpsters that will be available from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

To guarantee pick-up at the curb, items must be in place by 6 a.m. Absolutely NO large piles of construction or demolition debris will be accepted. It is the responsibility of the contractor to arrange for onsite disposal.

Items that will be picked up curbside:

• Brush: Must be bundled. No more than four feet in length and two inches in diameter. No more than 50 pounds.

• Furniture that can be easily crushed

• Mattresses up to full size

• Guttering less than four feet in length

Once again, the City of Perkins will provide dumpsters for large items at the city shop located at Knipe and Industrial Streets. Items that may be discarded in the large dumpsters include:

• Large amounts of brush

• Metal or wood longer than four feet in length

• Railroad ties

• Scrap metal

• Tires (must be removed from the rim)

• Vehicle batteries

• Mattresses larger than full size

• Heavy furniture

Items that cannot be picked up or taken to the dumpsters:

• Paint

• Herbicides

• Fertilizers

• Non-rechargeable batteries

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Community Recycling Center located at 1051 W Freeman Ave will be open and accepting appliances, televisions, computers and other electronics, rechargeable batteries, petroleum products, and other recyclable materials.

Freezers, refrigerators, and AC units will be accepted through Friday, May 3, at Country Comfort, located at 122 E. Thomas.

Payne County Bank will offer free document shredding at their main bank location Saturday morning from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
