Several special observances of Holy Week have been planned by the churches of the Perkins area.
Palm Sunday evening, March 24, the Perkins Community Choir will present an Easter cantata at 6 p.m. at Lost Creek United Methodist Church. The choir is composed of the choirs of Lost Creek United Methodist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church, as well as volunteers from other churches.
Holy Week services, sponsored by the Perkins Ministerial Alliance, will continue Monday, March 25, to Friday, March 29 at the Christian Church, 121 E. Stumbo in Perkins. The worship service will begin at noon each day.
Ministers leading the service will be Merl Kinser of Friends Chapel on Monday with Liberty Church providing music; Marty Voelker of First Baptist Church on Tuesday; Bob Johnson of Good News Church on Wednesday; Max Rudd of Lost Creek United Methodist Church on Thursday; and Rick Thacker of Cimarron Worship Center on Friday.
A light lunch will be served each day at 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. Area churches providing the lunches before and after will be Good News Church and the Christian Church on Monday; First Baptist Church on Tuesday; Immanuel Baptist Church
on Wednesday; Lost Creek United Methodist Church on Thursday; and Perkins First United Methodist and Eden Chapel on Friday. A love offering received each day will be used by the Perkins Ministerial Alliance to assist persons in the community who are in need. Also, Eden Chapel will have Maundy Thursday services March 28 at 6 p.m., and Good Friday services March 29 at 6 p.m, and Easter celebration Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 31. The Coyle Ministerial Alliance will have an Easter sunrise service at St. Francis of the Woods northeast of Coyle on SH 33 at 7 a.m. Easter morning. Persons can check with the church of their choice for additional information on Holy Week and Easter services. The annual Perkins Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will move to the Oklahoma Territorial Plaza this year due to recent construction of a new bus facility at Emerson Park. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 31.
