The Cimarron Valley OHCE meeting was held March 11, 2013 at the Methodist Church in Perkins. A noon luncheon was enjoyed by eleven members. Our hostesses, Gwen Barbaree and Phyllis Rodman decorated the room with the St Patrick Day theme, President, Connie Norrie called the meeting to order. Phyllis Rodman read the thought for the day "Do You Want Inspiration or Admiration". After the flag salute, Gwen Barbaree read a prayer for our soldiers and an amusing "Irish Blessing' about frogs.
There were no guest today nor birthdays this month. Roll call was answered with "What Was Your Most Memorable Vacation"? There were some very amusing and horrifying vacations remembered.
Jean Mihura gave the treasurers report and it was approved. Secretary Jane Flint read the February minutes and they were approved as read.
Because Marolyn McDuff is still recovering, Connie Norrie gave the lesson on "Vacationing In Oklahoma". There were twenty-seven outstanding sites listed on our lesson literature to visit in Oklahoma. Nice camping sites, history sites and cultural events.
Charlotte Parrack reported that the book "Will Rogers by Betty" is ready to be read.
The book is written by Will Rogers daughter.
Emma Lou Hardin has four names to send boxes to. If you have loved ones serving in service and want a box sent to them, let Emma Lou knOw.
March 14 was "Family Night" at the Expo Center in Stillwater. A large crowd enjoyed a covered dish dinner and a special program put on by the "Russell Family". This musical family has performed regularly in Branson and various places in Oklahoma and other states. It was a fun time for young and old.
Gwen Barbaree and Phyllis Rodman will be our lesson leaders for April. The topic will be "Fun, Low Cost Games for Parties & Showers". Hostesses will be Jane Flint and Grace Soutee.
