Commissioners approve Salt Creek bridge
By Van Mitchell, Journal Staff Writer

The Payne County Commissioners approved Tuesday an Oklahoma Department of Transportation programming resolution for a bridge replacement over Salt Creek on 19th Street.

Don Russell of Russell Engineering of Oklahoma City told commissioners that the bridge project will cost $1.2 million with construction expected to start in 2016 and last about six months.

District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett said the bridge replacement will be paid for through a combination of federal and state funding.

"It has been in our five-year plan to replace this bridge and we are starting to get the ball rolling," Cavett said.

The commissioners also approved an engineering project with Russell Engineering and a funding agreement with the Sac and Fox Nation for a 4.4 mile asphalt overlay on Norfolk Road.

"It will go pretty fast," Russell said. "We are talking about getting it done this year."

Commissioners also approved a resolution calling for a two-inch asphalt overlay over a four-mile stretch of McMurtry Road between Range Road and U.S. Highway 177.
