Two armed robberies of men carrying backpacks in Stillwater apartment complex parking lots -- occurring on Thanksgiving weekend -- remain under investigation, Stillwater Police Cpt. Randy Dickerson said in a news release Monday.
On Saturday at about 10:15 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1001 N. Perkins Road, a robber with a semi-automatic handgun demanded that a man hand over his cell phone, wallet and backpack, the news release said.
"Following the robbery, the suspect fled the area northbound on foot," the news release said.
On Sunday at 11:11 p.m., "a similar robbery took place in the parking lot of another apartment complex located at 1807 N. Hartford.
"After being robbed at gunpoint of his cell phone, wallet and backpack, the victim was ordered to lie on the ground while the suspect fled the area westbound on foot," the news release said.
"The suspect in both robberies is described as a black male of unknown age, between 5'8" and 6' tall, wearing a dark bandana over his face and armed with a black semiautomatic handgun.
"The victims in both incidents were men by themselves carrying backpacks in apartment complex parking lots," the news release said.
"Citizens are asked to be on alert for any suspicious behavior and are asked to call the Stillwater Police Department at (405) 372-4171 if they observe any suspicious activity or have any information to offer on these robberies," the news release said.
