Big Brothers Big Sisters is asking the public to help its mission while having a great time at Bowl for Kids Sake from April 14 -17. Bowl for Kids Sake is the largest national fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the money raised supports one-to-one mentoring for at-risk children.
Supporters are asked to form bowling teams consisting of 5-6 people who will each raise at least $100 through sponsorships. Each bowler receives two free games and shoe rental, a Bowl for Kids Sake t-shirt, food, drinks and chances to win prizes.
All proceeds go directly to providing services because corporate sponsors underwrite the cost of holding the event. Although each team is asked to raise at least $500, some top teams raise close to $10,000.
It costs $1,500 to pay for one Big Brother or Big Sister match for one year. The team from Stillwater Medical Center (shown) raised $6,500 in 2012.
