In 1971,Jim married Jane Wolff and the couple moved to Oklahoma City where Jim began working for the stockyards. In 1997, Jim retired and became self-employed as an avid collector of no longer prized possessions. He enjoyed farming, attending auctions, and trading the "treasures" he collected. Jim was a kind and selfless person who never met a stranger. He was a family man who loved his kids and adored his grandkids. He was ornery, enjoyed telling jokes and playing prank son his family and friends. Jim spent several years caring for his mother and never missed a chance to spend time at her side. Although Jim had several health issues himself, he never complained. No matter how he felt, if you asked him how he was doing, he always said "I'm great." Jim made many friends and touched many lives and he will be missed by all who knew him.

His legacy will continue through the lives of his sons: Shane Jacob and wife Jessica, of Carney and Lance Jacob and wife Amanda, of Stillwater.
