Sammy Dale Gunter

Sammy Dale Gunter, 66, died peacefully at his home in Stillwater on Sunday, July 21, 2013. His funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July
27 at the New Covenant Fel- lowship Church with Pastor C.J. Ellis officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Sam was born on June 2, 1947 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Robert L. and Dora Mae (Savage) Gunter. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1965 before going on to attend Central State University and then Oklahoma State Univer- sity. He married the love of his life, Janice Kershaw, on November 21, 1970.

Sam was an elder and charter member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was fond of the outdoors, loved spend- ing time around the water and in the
mountains, and enjoyed traveling and most of all riding his motorcycle whenever he could. He was
also a big fan of NASCAR. Sam was a member and Road Captain of the Land

Run Chapter of the Harley Davidson Group. He was never a stranger to anyone he
met, and he was a family man through and through.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 42 years,
Jan Gunter, of Stillwater; son, Scott Gunter, and his wife, Beth, of Panama City Beach, Florida; daughter, Emily Collum, and her hus- band, Brad, of Perkins; son, Seth Gunter, of Stillwater; six grandchildren: Cameron Tyring, Sammy Gunter, Marlie, Macy, and Cale Collum, Corbin Gunter and his mother Stephanie; sister, Lois Friedemann, and her husband, John, of Stillwater; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Judith Karman Hospice at PO Box 818, Stillwater,
OK 74076; or New Covenant Fellowship Youth Organization at 1110
E. McElroy, Stillwater, OK 74075.
