James Edsel Hall
1922-2013

James Edsel Hall, 91, died on Sunday, July 14, 2013 in Claremore, Oklahoma. His funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17th at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with Henry Siems and GT Moody officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edsel was born to the late Lester Fayette and Mary Magdalene (Fortner) Hall on March 19, 1922 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Cottonwood school until 8th grade when he began attending Stillwater High School. He married Juanita Chloe Austin in 1939, and they graduated high school together in 1940. After graduation, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Edsel worked for Cesna Aircraft for two years. He was drafted into the Marine Corp in 1942, and dutifully served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1946 having obtained the rank of Corporal. After being discharged, he returned to Stillwater and took up farming on the family farm. In 1951, Edsel entered the ministry in the Free Methodist Church and was appointed minister of several churches around Oklahoma. After retiring from ministry, he served the Liberty Free Methodist Church for 14 years. After the death of his beloved wife, Edsel met and married Pauline Brown in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling with Good Sam Club and family, and nature. The most important mission in his life was teaching and exemplifying God's love and grace.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, Juanita Hall; brother, Forrest Hall; sons, David E. and Danford A. Hall; and grandson, Donlee Austin Hall.

Edsel is survived by his son, J. Daryl Hall, and his wife, Marie (Sand Springs); daughter, Deanita Sue Sitton, and her husband, Robert (Stillwater); daughters-in-law, Ellen Hall (Oklahoma City) and Patricia Hall-Cox (Washington); nine grandchildren, Diana Stratz (Yukon), Martin Hall (Corn), Stephanie Horton (Coweta), Donavan Hall (New York), Jeremy Hall (Tulsa), Magdalene Hall (Tulsa), Deanita Henry (Stillwater), Robert Sitton III (Oregon) and Richard Sitton (Stillwater); sixteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Fayetta Martin (Stillwater).

Pallbearers will be Edsel's grandsons, Martin Hall, Jeremy Hall, Everett Henry, Robert Sitton III and Richard Sitton; and great-grandson, Jacob Henry. Ruth Fayetta Martin, 98 years old, will be a special honorary pallbearer.
